How this connects to our Lake Jackson utility estimate

On our Lake Jackson utility cost page, we model CenterPoint Energy (TDU Delivery – Houston area) delivery pass-throughs plus an illustrative retail supply component for competitive areas—useful for budgeting city services together. The modeled all-in electric estimate at 1,000 kWh is about $161.10 /month using our last source refresh (2026-09-30). Live REP rates you can enroll in will differ from that illustration.

Gatby’s Lake Jackson snapshot, dated October 1, 2026 for ZIP 77566, lists an average of 16.11¢/kWh at 1,000 kWh, with offers from about 7.0¢. CenterPoint’s September 2026 residential delivery, the same pass-through published for other CenterPoint cities, is $4.90 per month plus 6.4130¢/kWh. Confirm a live Electricity Facts Label. That snapshot is one day after this page’s September 30 verification date.

The city water page’s current schedule: $19.29 for the first 2,000 gallons, then $6.96 per 1,000 through 20,000. At 5,000 gallons water is $40.17. Use above 2,000 gallons also adds a $0.03 Brazoria County groundwater conservation pass-through. A qualifying senior discount takes $13 off the combined water and sewer bill.

Sewer is $20.85 for the first 2,000 gallons, then $7.53 per 1,000, and residential sewer is not charged above 15,000 gallons. At 5,000 gallons that is $43.44. FY2026 residential garbage and recycling is $28.50. A proposed increase to $28.75, higher water and sewer blocks, and a $1 disaster-recovery fee start October 1, 2026 and are not in the September 30 bill.

CenterPoint versus a Lake Jackson electricity plan

CenterPoint delivery is regulated and the same for every REP on that meter.

The 16.11¢ figure is Gatby’s October 1, 2026 snapshot, not a Choose Texas Power city page and not your contract price.

How to compare a Lake Jackson electricity offer

  • Quote ZIP 77566 and confirm CenterPoint

Brazoria County has other wires companies. The shopping page applies where the bill says CenterPoint.

  • Do not treat 16.11¢ as a PUCT city average

Choose Texas Power has no Lake Jackson page. Re-quote on Power to Choose.

  • Use the FY2026 water page, not the October 1 proposal

At 5,000 gallons, water is $40.17 and sewer is $43.44. The FY2027 hearing numbers and the $1 disaster fee start the next day.

  • Trash is $28.50 through September 30

    The FY2027 proposal is $28.75 starting October 1, 2026.

Moving to Lake Jackson

  • Confirm the meter is CenterPoint before you shop a REP.
  • Ask about the senior $13 water-and-sewer discount if someone in the household qualifies.
  • Shop the live EFL. There is no Choose Texas Power Lake Jackson page to bookmark.

Gatby listed 16.11¢/kWh at 1,000 kWh in a snapshot dated October 1, 2026. CenterPoint delivery used here is $4.90 per month plus 6.4130¢/kWh.
No. The city scheduled that fee, and the FY2027 water, sewer, and trash changes, for October 1, 2026.
No. The comparison module is not a live plan feed.
In most cases, no. For a standard switch between competitive retail electric providers on an existing residential meter, your new provider and your transmission and distribution utility (TDU) typically coordinate the change electronically—an appointment at your home is not usually required simply to change supply companies. A technician may need access for new service, suspected meter or equipment problems, or safety-related orders from the utility; those are different from completing enrollment through a shopping or comparison flow. Your confirmation email and terms from the enrolling provider will say if anything non-routine applies. If no visit is mentioned, you can ordinarily expect the switch to proceed without someone entering your home.
