Compare utility costs: two cities or your own
See electric, water, sewer, and trash costs side by side. Pick two cities from our list, or enter your own monthly costs to compare with a city or with another set of numbers.
How the comparison works
For cities in our dataset, we use our standard assumptions (e.g. 1,000 kWh electric, 5,000 gal water) so you get an apples-to-apples estimate. For “Enter my costs”, you type in your own monthly amounts—from your bill or best guess—and compare them to a city or to another set of numbers. Difference is shown as Right − Left: a negative number means the right side is cheaper.
Useful when you’re moving, comparing areas, or checking how your current bill stacks up against a city we cover. For full breakdowns and sources, use the city page links in the calculator.
Utility cost comparison
Choose “City from list” for each side to compare two cities, or “Enter my costs” to use your own numbers. You can mix: e.g. your current costs on the left, a city you’re considering on the right.

City estimates use our standard assumptions (e.g. 1,000 kWh, 5,000 gal water). Your actual bill may vary. Manual entries are for your own comparison only. Difference = Right − Left; negative means the right side is cheaper.
