FAQ – Utilities in Oklahoma

Oklahoma Electric Cooperative (OEC) serves Oklahoma City and Norman with standard rates ($1.50/day + 9¢/kWh; winter 1,000+ kWh at 6¢/kWh). Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) serves Tulsa with tiered rates. OG&E also serves parts of the Oklahoma City metro—verify your provider.
Each city has its own municipal utility: Oklahoma City and Norman have tiered water; Tulsa has meter fee + volumetric. Sewer in all three is based on winter average or similar formula. Trash rates vary—OKC bundles recycling; Tulsa and Norman charge separately for recycling. Stormwater may be billed separately.
Oklahoma City bases sewer on winter quarter average (AWC). Tulsa uses five-year Dec–Feb average or current month, whichever is less. Norman uses Dec–Jan–Feb average and updates each March. All charge per gallon of wastewater.
Actual bills depend on usage, seasonal electric rates (OEC winter discounts above 1,000 kWh; Edmond Electric summer/winter/shoulder tiers; PSO optional Time-of-Day Jun–Oct), water tiers, and sewer averaging periods. Verify your provider—some OKC addresses use OG&E.
