How this connects to our Mansfield utility estimate

On our Mansfield utility cost page, we model Oncor Electric Delivery delivery pass-throughs plus an illustrative retail supply component for competitive areas—useful for budgeting city services together. The modeled all-in electric estimate at 1,000 kWh is about $101.00 /month using our last source refresh (2026-09-30). Live REP rates you can enroll in will differ from that illustration.

Choose Texas Power’s Mansfield page, updated September 30, 2026 for ZIP 76063, lists a marketplace average of 10.1¢/kWh at 1,000 kWh, 18.7¢ at 500 kWh, and 13.1¢ at 2,000 kWh. Oncor delivery on that page is $4.06 per month plus 6.0295¢/kWh.

The water and sewer schedule in effect on September 30 is the city’s 2025 rate document. Oncor versus a Mansfield electricity plan

Oncor’s $4.06 and 6.0295¢/kWh are delivery. Every REP on that meter passes them through.

The plan you compare is the supply contract: price, term, and whether a credit requires a usage level you actually hit.

How to compare a Mansfield electricity offer

  • Quote ZIP 76063 or the service address

The September 30 averages are for 76063. Confirm the quote says Oncor.

  • Read the 500 kWh column before you use 10.1¢

That snapshot averages 18.7¢ at 500 kWh. A credit aimed at 1,000 kWh will not describe a low-usage month.

  • Date-stamp the city water schedule

At 5,000 gallons, water is $33.33 and sewer is $48.06 on the schedule in effect September 30. October 1, 2026 rates are a different table.

  • Keep the $19.23 trash fee out of the energy math

It is a city charge. Budget about 46 cents more starting October 1, 2026.

Moving to Mansfield

  • Confirm Oncor before comparing a plan built for a different TDU.
  • If your start date is on or after October 1, 2026, use the FY2027 water tables, not the 2025 schedule.
  • Save the EFL. The 10.1¢ figure is a one-day marketplace average.

In most cases, no. For a standard switch between competitive retail electric providers on an existing residential meter, your new provider and your transmission and distribution utility (TDU) typically coordinate the change electronically—an appointment at your home is not usually required simply to change supply companies. A technician may need access for new service, suspected meter or equipment problems, or safety-related orders from the utility; those are different from completing enrollment through a shopping or comparison flow. Your confirmation email and terms from the enrolling provider will say if anything non-routine applies. If no visit is mentioned, you can ordinarily expect the switch to proceed without someone entering your home.
