How this connects to our Wylie utility estimate

On our Wylie utility cost page, we model Oncor Electric Delivery delivery pass-throughs plus an illustrative retail supply component for competitive areas—useful for budgeting city services together. The modeled all-in electric estimate at 1,000 kWh is about $108.00 /month using our last source refresh (2026-09-30). Live REP rates you can enroll in will differ from that illustration.

Choose Texas Power’s Wylie page, updated September 30, 2026 for ZIP 75098, lists a marketplace average of 10.8¢/kWh at 1,000 kWh, 18.4¢ at 500 kWh, and 13.0¢ at 2,000 kWh. Oncor delivery is $4.06 per month plus 6.0295¢/kWh.

Ordinance 2026-31, adopted July 28 and published August 6, 2026, sets the water minimum at $24.19 for the first 1,000 gallons, then $8.24 per 1,000 through 10,000. Residential sewer is a flat $67.56 ($47.65 for ages 65+ and qualifying disabled homeowners). The city’s rate webpage still shows the older Oct 1, 2025 figures. Garbage stays $17.60. Stormwater is a separate $5.

Outside the city limits, water and wastewater are 115% of the inside-city rates.

Oncor versus a Wylie electricity plan

Oncor delivery is the same for every REP on that meter.

Supply price, term, and bill credits are what you compare. The 10.8¢ average is a blend, not a contract price.

How to compare a Wylie electricity offer

  • Confirm the utility before you quote

City customers are Oncor for electric and the city for water. Wylie Northeast SUD customers have different water, sewer, and trash rates.

  • Use ZIP 75098 or the service address

The September 30 averages are for 75098.

  • Do not apply a per-gallon sewer rate

Inside the city, residential sewer is $67.56 regardless of the 5,000-gallon water assumption. Water at 5,000 gallons is $57.15.

  • Leave stormwater and trash off the REP comparison

Stormwater is $5 and garbage is $17.60. Neither follows the electricity provider.

Moving to Wylie

  • Ask whether the address is city water or Wylie Northeast SUD before you budget the utility bill.
  • Confirm Oncor on the electricity quote.
  • Save the EFL. Marketplace averages from September 30 will not be your rate later.

In most cases, no. For a standard switch between competitive retail electric providers on an existing residential meter, your new provider and your transmission and distribution utility (TDU) typically coordinate the change electronically—an appointment at your home is not usually required simply to change supply companies. A technician may need access for new service, suspected meter or equipment problems, or safety-related orders from the utility; those are different from completing enrollment through a shopping or comparison flow. Your confirmation email and terms from the enrolling provider will say if anything non-routine applies. If no visit is mentioned, you can ordinarily expect the switch to proceed without someone entering your home.
